Melissa Thomas

Melissa Thomas has over 30 years of U.S. Government work experience and retired from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) after almost 24 years as a Special Agent. She has served in the offices of San Diego, Washington, D.C., Quantico, FBI Headquarters, and Rome, Italy. Her investigative experience spans white-collar crime, violent crime, national security, and behavioral analysis.

During her career she was appointed Special Assistant to the Assistant Director of the International Operations Division and as Special Assistant to the Executive Assistant Director of the National Security Branch at FBI Headquarters. In these positions, she was responsible for creating and implementing policy for personnel assigned in the FBI’s international offices as well as for overseeing administrative and financial investigations. Prior to retiring, she served as an Assistant Legal Attaché at the U.S. Embassy in Rome, Italy where she was responsible for managing domestic and international investigations and coordinating the U.S. Government’s interests with the Ambassador, U.S. Consulate, and host country partners.

After her retirement, she was hired as a Senior Consultant for a global risk management firm supporting investigations of multi-million-dollar corporations responding to allegations of fraud, bribery, and compliance issues. Ms. Thomas earned a B.S. in Criminal Justice from California State University and an M.A. in General Psychology from the Catholic University of America.
