Mohamed ElBaih

Mohamed ElBaih serves as an Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Emerging Technologies Consultant at The Soufan Group. He is a subject-matter expert on data management, data science, artificial intelligence , and advanced computing.

Mr. ElBaih is an AI and Privacy Visiting Scholar at The George Washington University Law School – GW Center for Law and Technology where he researches the intersection of AI, privacy, cybersecurity law, the economic impacts of emerging technologies, and how legal frameworks can influence AI development.

Previously, Mr. ElBaih was a Legal Consultant in the Data Privacy Office at the International Finance Corporation (IFC) within the World Bank Group, where he provided guidance on compliance with privacy policies and contributed to the development of data governance procedures. He also served as an AI, Privacy, and Cybersecurity Policy Fellow at the Information Technology Industry Council, where he monitored global legislative developments concerning AI and privacy.

Mr. ElBaih served as a Senior Federal Prosecutor in Egypt, having argued and prosecuted over 200 cases involving cybercrimes, drugs, money laundering, and terrorism, which enhanced his understanding of the legal frameworks essential for emerging technologies. He holds a Master of Laws (LLM) in National Security & Cybersecurity Law from The George Washington University, where he graduated as a Merit Scholar. He earned his Bachelor of Laws at Ain Shams University in Cairo. Mr. ElBaih is fluent in Arabic and English.
