The Soufan Group provides Major Event Security Training for Indonesian National Police in preparation for 26th Annual SEA Games.

From May 16 to May 22, James A. McGee and Raymond S. Mey, Senior Program Managers representing TSG, provided Major Event Security Training for 32 Senior Police Commissioners from the Indonesian National Police (INP).

Jakarta will host the 26th Annual  Southeast Asian (SEA) Games from November 11-22, 2011 in Jakarta and Palembang. 44 sports events will be take place in over 30 venue sites spread throughout Indonesia. The training emphasized the importance of police led security planning and operations for this event, rather than relying on the SEA Games Organizing Committee to lead such efforts as accreditation, access security control and crisis response and management.

Current reports indicate that the Organizing Committee for the SEA Games is having significant difficulty in recruiting sufficient number of volunteers to support the operational requirements for these Games. McGee and Mey stressed the importance on developing strict police led policies and procedures pertaining to the issuance of accreditation to over 15,000 volunteers that the organizing committee is actively recruiting for the conduct of these Games.

Training also included the requirement of the INP to work closely with their public safety counterparts from Fire, Rescue, Public Health, military and emergency management to develop a comprehensive and fully integrated security and safety plan for the SEA Games.  The training culminated in a day long exercise in which the INP developed a comprehensive Operational Strategic Plan to carry out the security for this event.
