Peter Himmelberger

Director of Technical Operations

Peter Himmelberger is the Director of Technical Operations of the Soufan Group LLC. He has more than 30 years advanced engineering experience in fields from complex C4I systems engineering to secure systems engineering, information assurance, and counter intelligence. Mr. Himmelberger led the R&D programs at major corporations as well as served as CTO at GTE, DynCorp and CSC divisions.

With the U.S. Foreign Service, Mr. Himmelberger focused on counterterrorism and technical counter intelligence services to U.S. Missions abroad and served in more than 40 countries including the former Soviet Union. Most recently Mr. Himmelberger has focused on national and regional C4I and C3I systems architecture and systems integration.

Some of Mr. Himmelberger's major technical accomplishments include the design architecture for the largest mobile packet switching network in the world, the first ATM switch with military features to communicate over satellite networks, the development of a catapult launch safety mechanism for Aircraft Carriers, and the deployment of an information security system for a major corporation.

Mr. Himmelberger graduated from Northeastern University in Boston, MA with a B.S. degree in Electronic Engineering, from the University of Southern California, with an MS in System Technology, and from Nichols College with an MBA. He is also a graduate of the Defense Systems Management College at Ft. Belvoir, now called the Defense Acquisition University.
